Miss Mouse has invented a new game. It’s called “escape from the changing table.” The premise is simple: every time I try to change her diaper, she tries to prevent the act from taking place. What fun.
I pick her up, cheerfully announce “diaper time” and set her gently on the changing pad on top of the dresser. She rolls over.
I replace her on her back and give her a toy to play with. She rolls over again.
I try to pin her down with one hand while diapering with the other. She thrashes and writhes and squirms and kicks her feet and struggles and is generally unhelpful.
About the only thing that will keep her still is a toy that suctions to the window and plays a horrific electronic version of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” about 10 decibels above “deafening.” I play it again and again until I’m done changing her. It hurts.
I do have a truly awesome picture of Miss Mouse caught in the midst of her Houdini act. She’s on her hands and knees, attempting to crawl off the changing pad. She’s wearing her shoes and socks and an un-snapped onesie. Her wee bum is waving merrily in the breeze and she looks very pleased with herself. I’d love to post it, but would hate to run afoul of any laws! Use your imagination.
