My First Bento!

July 20th, 2009

Behold! My first bento lunch creation. Appropriately, it was my packed lunch on Saturday for the PASA tour.

Contents:
1 peanut butter and jelly sandwich
A raspberry/blueberry melange
A handful of wheat thins
Several cucumber and carrot sticks

Analysis:
Not bad. It was pretty healthy, although it didn’t conform to the 4:3:2:1 ratio (four parts carbohydrate/rice, three parts veggie, two parts protein, one part “treat”). The little box I used — which I bought for Miss Mouse’s day care meals, is probably a bit small. Although perhaps that’s the point, as one of the benefits of eating bento is portion control. Oh, and the wheat thins got really soggy after sharing a compartment with the cucumber sticks for several hours.
