Sleeping Beauty

July 15th, 2009

Miss Mouse’s ear infections (yes, both ears, again) woke her in the night and I went up to comfort her. She cozied into my lap and fell asleep quickly, but I kept rocking her for a few minutes, just looking at her.

We hadn’t bathed her in two days and her hair had clumped around various bits of food she had smeared onto her head. She was damp and hot from fever. Some portion of her dinner had come back up and she reeked of baby puke. She was snoring softly, her formula breath wafting up to my face.

And all I could think while I sat there was: my god, she is beautiful.

  1. Aww they are beautiful no matter what. Even when she gets older and starts throwing the monster of all fits. You will look at her and either laugh or cry but she will always be beautiful.
