Sleeping? Not so much.

Dream on, mom. My naive hope that Miss Mouse would immediately start sleeping deeply for twelve hours a night now that her ears are fixed was…well…a naive hope!
Last night, I put her down at seven. She woke shrieking at 7:40, 8:40, 9:40 and 4:30. And possibly once more in between while daddy was on duty. I was going to ask him this morning, but he so closely resembled one of the undead at 5am that I avoided all unnecessary speech.
At about 10 o’clock last night, I suggested to Josh that maybe she was having nightmares about the surgery. He suggested that I was nuts.
Then I suggested that perhaps the problem was, she didn’t have PJ Funny Bunny, her stuffed rabbit. (He had been left, abandoned and ignored, downstairs in the living room.) He pointed out that, despite my efforts to make her bond with PJ, Miss Mouse shows most interest in him when she’s flinging him out of her crib.
I was undeterred. There’s just got to be a reason! Maybe she was disoriented from the anesthesia. Maybe she was hungry from not eating all that well all day. Maybe her stuffed elephant chair was blocking the night light and the shadow freaked her out.
Maybe she just doesn’t sleep all that well…
NO! I am not accepting that as a possibility. I maintain that with her Brand New ears, Miss Mouse will sleep well. Soon. Any day now…
