A love affair ends

October 10th, 2009

After many years of pleasure — I don’t know, maybe 15, 20? — a long-standing relationship of mine may be coming to an end. It’s not something I brag about, but for years I’ve carried on an off-again-on-again love affair with…Taco Bell.

Yes, I know that it’s not real Mexican food and that ethnic fast food is never that good. Yes, I know that the company is bad to its employees, the environment, and the world at large. But I have a weakness for their chicken quesadilla. I got periodic cravings that I was powerless to resist.
But now I have a new lover. I spent last night with a Chipotle steak burrito, and there were fireworks.

Seriously, this was one fabulous burrito. Marinated steak, cilantro rice, black beans, cheese, salsa, guacamole. My oh my. I may never again cross the threshold of a Taco Bell.

What can I say? Love it fickle.

Welcome to the world of Chipotle! I love the Steak Fajita Burrito…it's a work of art! But I do love a good Taco Bell Chicken Quesadilla.

And don't forget that Chipotle was founded on the principles of eating local. Their ingredients are locally sourced as much as possible (including that delicious steak).
