I think it’s trying to communicate…
January 7th, 2010
In recent weeks, Miss Mouse has taken several bounds forward and begun communicating verbally. Well, to be fair, she has communicated verbally for quite some time, but for the purposes of this post we’re not counting shrieks, screams, grunts, whines, or squawks.
Solidly identifiable Mouse Words include: baby, dada, and bye bye, and she makes a credible attempt at “more.” She’s also making great strides in the animal noises department, proudly demonstrating for all the world what sounds are produced by cows (“mmmmm”), dogs (“whhuh”) and snakes (“ttssssss”).
We do get into some trouble occasionally because several of her soon-to-be words all begin with “M.” So when she stomps up and emphatically says “Mmmm!!!” it can be difficult to ascertain if she:
a) Wants her milk,
b) Wants more of something (including more repetitions of songs and books),
c) Is trying to cheerfully greet her Mama, or
d) Simply wishes to share with you a random bovine mating call.
