Performing for the Grands
January 25th, 2010
I suspect that Miss Mouse has been “performing” for Grandpa and Grandma over the past few days. How else to explain her recent sleeping habits?
Usually, Miss Mouse gets into a routine during the week, as I wake her at about 5:35 to get ready for school. On Saturday, she tends to rise quite early, then Sunday she sleeps in more, and if the days progress without a set wake-time, she sleeps in longer and longer.
Not this week.
She’s been getting up progressively earlier each day — perhaps excited to play with her adoring grandparents — and this morning she hit the ungodly hour of 4:30. My mother, bless her, has freakishly good hearing when it comes to the squeaks of her granddaughter, and managed to snag her out of her crib before her cries had even woken me! So it was with some bewilderment that I ambled downstairs after my shower (pleased that the baby was still asleep, as not a peep was coming from the monitor) only to find them playing together in the living room, Miss Mouse already having had her breakfast.
It’s okay, kid. They’re staying for a while. You’ll have plenty of time to play with them. Go back to sleep.
