Fashion Conscious

April 15th, 2010

Let it be known that when it comes to fashion, my girl gets it.

This morning, in honor of the fabulous weather predicted for today, I dressed my beautiful wee creature in a two-toned pink striped LL Bean skirt and a white polo with a butterfly embroidered on the chest. Lightly puffed sleeves and a collared neck? Too cute. The ensemble was complete with the addition of her pink plaid tennis shoes and bobby socks.

I’d like to say I have a picture, but I don’t. The reason? I made the mistake of showing Miss Mouse herself in the viewing window on the camera. Now, when I get it out, she charges at me chanting “baby baby baby baby.” It’s very hard to take good pictures under these circumstances.

But I digress.

As we were departing for school, I grabbed her dark blue denim jacket that she’s been wearing of late and asked her to stick out an arm so I could put it on. She politely declined. “No.” Then, she marched over to her pink pea coat with the heart buttons, picked it up and said, “That.”

The pea coat was a bit warmer than necessary for this morning, but she was absolutely right that it looked better with her outfit. And we all know that fashion wins out over practicality nine times out of ten.

But of course! How could she be otherwise? She is, after all, a Burkhalter Woman.
