Out of the Crib and into the…?

May 15th, 2010

We knew it was coming. Miss Mouse had been sticking one leg up over the top of her crib for several weeks now when she wanted out. But she hadn’t managed to leverage herself up and over…

…until last night.

Last night when, in an act of utter baby desperation brought on by the prospect of bedtime abandonment as her mother left the room, my wee creature fell — nay, leaped — out of bed and onto the floor with a resounding thud.

Yikes.

Hugs, kisses, and further rocking ensued and I believe we all escaped the episode unscathed. But, now what? Do we leave her where she is, hoping that the fall scared her enough to deter any further escape attempts for a while? Start transitioning her to a toddler bed?

Perhaps some fine wire mesh across the top of her crib. Isn’t that what they use for leopards at the zoo? Seems to work pretty well for them.
