Nocturnal Habits of Pregnant Folk
August 31st, 2010
We pregnant folk are our own breed of person. We walk funny. We look kinda funny. We experience unpredictable mood swings. And we tend to be a lot more active at night than the average non-pregnant person who spends her night actually sleeping instead of thrashing around trying to get comfortable.
Depending on the night, there can really be a lot of activity. For example, last night I…
…drank two glasses of water.
…got up to pee three times.
…had a nightmare about a tree-dwelling yeti (don’t laugh — he was scary).
…woke up 42 times.
…rearranged my array of pillows 42 times.
…changed my shirt because I was just too sweaty.
…lay in bed making a mental list of things to take to the hospital.
…lay in bed making a mental list of things to do around the house before the baby comes.
…lay in bed making a mental list of things to do at work today.
…lay in bed wondering how long I had left before my alarm clock went off.
…thought my water broke, then realized it had been a dream sparked by the need to get up and go to the bathroom for a fourth time.
…slept. A little.
