Miss Mouse continues to make great strides in her culinary explorations. These days, when I announce intentions to work on dinner, I am followed by an enthusiastic helper who shrieks “I cook!” at the top of her lungs until she is given a task. Last night, we indulged a hankering for pancakes and my girl played a central role in the production of the meal.

She took particularly deep enjoyment from scooping up spoonfuls of flour and transporting them from one container to another, so I set her up with her own bowls and let her go to town. The resulting mess in the kitchen was pretty spectacular, but she was in toddler heaven and it was totally worth it.

(Yes, she’s sitting on a kitchen island/table/thing. No, I don’t leave her up there unattended.)

That looks like so much fun! And just think–in ten years you'll be able to send her in there and tell her not to come out until there are brownies.
