Boots, Glorious Boots
February 25th, 2011
I love hand-me-downs. Love them. Baby clothes were absolutely made to be shared. Apart from those outfits that are irretrievably soiled by bodily functions gone haywire, most kids tend to outgrow their clothes long before they wear them out. Mr. Bug’s closet currently sports outfits from three different mommy friends whose sons are older than mine. My kiddos are the bottom of the line right now — the youngest of their gender in our group — so we get lots of wonderful stuff!
And then last week, a wonderful cache of boots fell into my lap.
A group of students organized a boot drive for the non-profit that I work for. It was an expensive private school and the drive yielded a plethora of barely-used, high-end footwear. Most of it was for big kid feet and was put to use in our programs. But there were a few toddler shoes as well and, as luck (for me) would have it, we don’t serve toddlers. So they let me take the boots home!
It’ll be a while before Buggie grows into these, but I’m happy to store them. My favorite pair is the itty bitty Doc Martins.
