29 Gifts, Day Fourteen: A Card for Grandpa

May 15th, 2011

My grandfather was in town last week for a few days.  As I may have mentioned before, my grandpa is awesome and I love spending time with him.  Seeing him meet and get to know my kids has been a wonderful blessing.

Miss Mouse adores her “Grandpa Yarry” (she doesn’t do the letter “l” very well yet.  He’s Grandpa Larry to the rest of us), though we did have to preemptively temper her enthusiasm with conversations about how it wasn’t a good idea to jump on Grandpa Larry.  I had visions of her leaping into his lap and breaking something!!

Buggie’s also a big fan.  I suspect the beard has something to do with it…

My grandpa and I used to be pen-pals when I was younger.  So yesterday, I resurrected the tradition and sent him a card with a couple pictures we’d taken over the weekend.  It should be waiting for him when he arrives home on Tuesday, after a brief visit with my mom’s sister this weekend.

This reminds me so much of the relationship I had with my papa. So exciting that your children get to experience his awesomeness as well!
