Summer Bounty

June 6th, 2011

The great thing about attempting to lose weight during the summer is the abundance of fresh produce.  This was the centerpiece of our dinner last night.

Watermelon, cantaloupe, green grapes, red grapes, strawberries

For the kids, I added grilled cheese sandwiches.  Josh and I just munched on the fruit, as we’d had a hefty lunch at a post-church picnic potluck.  The four of us sat outside on a blanket after our big hike, gnawing on cantaloupe and throwing grapes at each other.

I had to strip my son down to his skivvies before I let him back in the house, since he was covered from head to toe in watermelon juice, but that’s a small price to pay!

Good thing we have a red oriental in the dining room – watermelon juice will hardly show!
