Things to Tell Daddy
August 31st, 2011
Josh has been in Ghana for the past 10 days on a mission trip. Ten days in Africa is pretty close to his definition of heaven (had it been 10 months or 10 years, it’d be even closer!), but I knew he would miss his kiddos who have this shocking habit of growing and changing every time you turn around.
Thus, to chronicle our adventures while he was away, Miss Mouse and I came up with An Idea. We took a giant piece of poster board and turned it into an ongoing diary/art project entitled Things To Tell Daddy.
Every day, we wrote down something we wanted to remember to tell Daddy, and decorated our entries with stickers, markers, pictures, and other miscellanea (like a portion of the sparkly cardboard crown that she got at a Pirates and Princesses party at daycare).
Our entries included:
“Saturday, I saw SHEEP. And, a dog who looked just like a sheep.”
“Monday was my first day of preschool! I brought Tinkerbell, and she napped with me.”
The finished product was proudly awaiting Josh when he arrived home this afternoon.
It was hugely fun to make and, after a few days, Miss Mouse really got into it and was eager to add memories to the project. I’m sure we’ll do it again next time Josh goes gallivanting around the globe!
