Christmas Carol Dance Party (Advent Unplugged)

December 22nd, 2011

Some days I feel the wear and tear of being a working momma more than others.  There are definitely evenings when I think that maybe my life would be easier if I just plonked the kids down in front of that nice claymation rendition of Rudolph while I sequester myself in the kitchen with a plate of Christmas cookies.

When that mood strikes, there is only one remedy: Christmas Carol Dance Party.

When you’re dealing with preschoolers and toddlers, arranging an impromptu dance party isn’t hard.  Just turn on some music and set them loose.  I’m partial to classics like Jingle Bell Rock, Holly Jolly Christmas, or Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.  (Miss Mouse tends to take that last one literally which imperils my evergreen – good thing we opted for an unbreakable tree!)  Though nothing beats Trans-Siberian Orchestra when you’re looking for something to jam to!

Miss Mouse, on the other hand, is nuts for a ridiculous Disney version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town (which she calls “Santa Sees You When You’re Sleeping”).  We all get rather silly.

My mom was telling me today that apparently that version of Rudolph has some gay-acceptance vibes sprinkled throughout. So now I have to watch it and see if she's right. Also, Santa seeing me when I'm sleeping has really been creeping me out as a concept this year. How does Mousie handle it?
