Miss Mouse Wears Bling
March 12th, 2012
I lived in India for a year after I finished grad school and I came home with suitcases laden with wonders. Shoes covered in sequins. Clothing sparkling with mirrors. And jewelry. Lots of jewelry.
As time has passed, I’ve found myself wearing less and less of my India Bling. There comes a point when you no longer feel comfortable wandering the aisles of the grocery store in a salwar kameez. Go figure.
Following my mantra of “no sector is too small to benefit from some organization” I went through my jewelry boxes and weeded a bunch of stuff I never wear. I kept aside some of the best pieces and put them into a special box for Miss Mouse. Lately, she’s been fascinated by my jewelry and always begs me to wear it. Since there’s no way I’m going to let her out of my sight with anything valuable and/or breakable and/or sentimental, a pile of cheap beaded goodies seemed like a good compromise.
Miss Mouse loves her treasure chest. She paws through it lovingly and bedecks herself in as many items as she can manage. She can often be seen sporting at least half a dozen bracelets. My girl’s got style.
