A Veritable Chatter Bug
July 3rd, 2012
Confession time: I blog more about Miss Mouse than about Buggie. I know this. Poor little brother. His milestones get less notice than hers did and she’s forever having milestones of her own! This is why younger siblings can wind up with a complex.
But I’m currently reveling in my son’s increased vocabulary. He’s been slower to pick up spoken language than Miss Mouse. I don’t know if that’s a function of being a boy, being a second-born with a big sister who doesn’t let him get a word in edgewise, or the fact that we just don’t read to him as much as we did to her (cringe), but he’s picking up steam now.
I feel a bit like I’m living with a parrot. I say something and I immediately hear it repeated in a small voice from the level of my kneecaps.
But he’s branching out, too, and starting to put words together. Yesterday, he marched up to me, plunked down on the floor, stuck his feet in the air, and announced — “Shoes off!” Roger that, captain.
I’m also sensing that the next round of potty training is sneaking up on us, though I’m in no hurry. One of Buggie’s favorite phrases at the moment is — “Me poop.” Like I couldn’t already tell that. He has a very expressive face…
