File Under: Slicker, City

July 25th, 2012

Overheard at our house the other night…

Me: “Dang, honey.  We have some really loud bugs in our backyard.”

Josh: “Um, those aren’t bugs.  Those are frogs.”

Me: “Frogs?  No way.”

Josh: “Yeah, they live in our tree.”

Me: “Now you’re just being silly.  Frogs in the trees?  Be serious.”

Josh: “Haven’t you ever heard of tree frogs?”

Um, well, yes.  Now that you phrase it like that.  I suppose I have.  I thought they were indigenous to South America, though, and generally poisonous.  I didn’t expect them to be lurking in my backyard.

Umm – we had tree frogs in Sycamore when you were living there…..

So nice to hear that you are discovering all the treats involved with country living, Kate. I love the sound of tree frogs (any frogs) chirping at dusk. How about lightning bugs? We don’t seem to get them here. Crickets are next…

    have you heard/seen cicadas yet?
