Thank-You Notes for Beginners

November 4th, 2012

Growing up, my mother ran a tight ship when it came to gift appreciation.  Prompt thank-you notes were a non-negotiable part of any holiday that included gifts.

As much as I grumbled and whined about the hassle of such activities, I’m hoping to instill the value in my kids.  Thus, Miss Mouse and I worked on some tokens of gratitude after her birthday party a few weeks ago.

Given her age, I knew I’d be doing most of the composition, but I wanted the notes to “feel” like Miss Mouse.  I ordered foam harvest-themed picture frames from Oriental Trading Company.  Miss Mouse carefully assembled and decorated them.   I ordered prints of some nice pictures of her friends from the party, then stuck each one in a frame and penned a quick thank-you on the back of the frame.  Miss Mouse signed her name to each.

Voila!

A thank-you plus party favor in one!  Miss Mouse had a great time delivering the picture frames in church this morning and I felt confident that her guests knew how much their presence meant at her shindig.
