Buggie and the Big Boys

Chance and Brisco and the Kids

See those smiling faces that don’t belong to me, but bear a striking resemblance to each other?  That’s C & B: they are the six-year-old twin boys belonging to my best friend from high school…and they were probably the highlight of Buggie’s trip to my parents’ house.*

I realized that Buggie doesn’t get a lot of exposure to older boys.  There are a couple elementary and middle school boys at church who are very sweet to the little man, but having an older sister means that when bigger kids are around, they’re often girls.  It was fun for me to watch Buggie and the Big Boys.

He was enchanted.

He followed them around.  He watched them.  He showed them his toys.  He delighted in their every word and giggled every time they looked at him.

As for the Big Boys, they were awesome, bless their hearts.  They played with him and kicked him soccer balls.  They let him chase them around the yard and ride on their backs in the lake.  They feigned terror at his dinosaur noises and expressed appropriate enthusiasm for his new Spiderman action figure.

Here’s to a new generation of friends!

* In the interest of honesty, I should say that the Big Boys probably actually ran a close second in Buggie’s eyes to the firetruck ride at a local amusement park, the latter being given a slight edge by the presence of actual flames.  Based on stories my buddy has told me about her kids, they probably could have produced actual flames given enough time away from watchful eyes, but I digress…

Awwwwww! I showed C & B this picture, and Chance was so thrilled to be featured in “Mrs. Kate’s Computer Show” that I thought he might wet himself with joy.
We loved spending time with you guys, and are grateful for the opportunity. Already looking forward to next summer! :)
