Hiking Bingo

April 12th, 2014

We took advantage of the amazing spring weather today and headed out for our first family hike of the season.

The big kids take after their mother in that sometimes the idea of hiking appeals more to them than the actual hiking.  To keep them interested and moving (and not whining) I created a simple Hiking Bingo card for each of them.

I picked out things that we often see when we’re out at our favorite hiking spot and used both words and pictures so that Buggie and Miss Mouse could both participate.  It was more of a scavenger hunt than Bingo, I guess, because both cards were identical and we all searched together for the items.

The cards were a hit!  The kids had a great time searching for things like mushrooms, bugs, and a tree with a hole in it.  We saw deer tracks (and live deer) and purple flowers.

Little Bird enjoyed her hike, too.  She gets the best seat in the house!
