Everything You Need to Know About Siblings

May 10th, 2014

Do you have one child?  Are you contemplating adding a second to your life?  Here’s all you need to know about siblings in two brief vignettes:

— A week ago Miss Mouse was invited to a birthday party to which Buggie was not invited.  To lessen the sting for him, we decided that Josh would take him to a movie while I took Miss Mouse to the party.  When we informed them of The Plan, they both immediately burst into tears because they each wanted what the other one had.

—  This afternoon, on the way home from (another, different) birthday party, the two swapped items from their goodie bags.  A lime green sticky hand for a Spiderman ring.  And Buggie said to Miss Mouse: “I love you, Sissy.  We’re best friends.

That, my friends, is what it’s like with siblings in the house.

Having an only child was comfortable, enjoyable, easy. But it’s stories like this that make me wish you had had a sibling.

Sweet story. And Kathy, each has its benefits. My sister has one. We used to cry on each other’s shoulders for different reasons.
